"I Don't Need Anyone to Hold Me...I Can Hold My Own..."

About Me

Generally a misanthropic, internet junkie, silly movie loving, sushi eating, pill popping idiot...I don't know. Talking about myself feels weird at the moment. Plus I don't know anyone on this thing. I am a PhD student in religion (comparative). No I am not going to be a goddamn minister (I put that "goddamn" in there just to hammer home my point). I study Evangelicalism in America (and how to destroy them), Hinduism, post-colonial theory, feminism/queer angle to the Bible and religion in America...(Yes I will probably call you a latent homosexual if you blather on about how much you hate gays...and don't tell me anything about it, okay?)...blah blah blah.

I don't like people. I am on this to peruse and I have seen some interesting personalities and I like reading their stuff and looking at their art. But mainly, I don't like people. Hence, misanthropic as I stated above. I am a writer. But I have lost all my artistic skills since I have been in college for ten years. Nevertheless, I can write a mean research paper. And if you are interested in a real dissection of religious phenomenon, we can chat. But it your ideas are limited with no real knowledge of WHY you have limited them in such a way, let's NOT chat.

Other than that, I think I am pretty friendly. Depends. Who is one-dimensional enough to be satisfied with describing themselves in an "About Me" section anyway? Its too difficult. Or I am just lazy...I am going to bet on the latter. I an an extremist. If I am in a partying/dancing phase I do it to the hilt. Then I will remain in seclusion for weeks on end. I have lost many friends that way since they don't understand my need for ABSOLUTE space. The real friends are the ones I can call a year later and say "Hey," and they be exactly the same.

My Interests

Hatred...discussions about hatred. No not really...ok MAYBE. Wandering around the internet, reading (my range can be from Durkheim to US magazine...I have little filter), dance music, my old goth music (no not Marilyn Manson...Bauhaus, 45 Grave, Siouxsie and the Banshees, et. al.)....Wandering around places and tripping out that the world is round sorta thing. TRAVELING. I need to get on a plane at least twice a year...I don't care if I am going to podunk-ville, I will just make sure to carry my bullet proof Satanic Bible. I like cleaning my apartment before I sit down to read, I like to research people/things/events. I like to shit talk (I ain't gonna lie)., I like to meet people (or look at people) that people don't get or that offend because it is my personal belief that if you walk past something/someone, encounter something/one, and you don't notice it, then that something/one is not exploring new territory or jumbling up the puzzle pieces. For example, if you like a song INSTANTLY without delving into it, its probably because that song is preying upon your set ideals and pictures...it isn't going overboard and questioning, or redefining. But if you keep listening to that song (insert BLANK), and then you come to like it, well, that is just fucking rad. And its new, or at least its a recalibration of the old. And I love puzzles.

Movies

Dark ones. Princess ones. Tarantino ones. Ones that involve women running around in Manolos. Ones about Satan (I am not a Satanist...but I LOVE dissecting these movies and Western culture...I am not an easy person to sit and just chill with...I have to dissect...). And I love Tenacious D and Jack Black. And Chris Rock.

Television

Hate TV...But I do like me some America's Next Top Model (Gay men + overemotional starfuckers...my kind of show!)

Books

That is a list that even trumps my music list...So I will limit it to what I am currently reading, "The God Delusion, " and Hesiod "Works and Days, " the new People Magazine, "Religion and its Monsters, " and a book of poems titled, "Talking Dirty to the Gods" (which was obviously the reason I bought it.)
